The images of the cross and the empty tomb combine with the coming of the Holy Spirit. I wanted to express how all of these elements are connected; none of them can happen without the others. Our faith rests on them all and we are held in the love of God by them all.

The painting is made using textures from printing surfaces - actually a sea shell for parts of it! I wanted to express the movement of the Holy Spirit - like a wind; and the colours are warm and flowing - like the fire. Both are descriptions from the Bible.

I hope the painting will be used for prayer and meditation and also to daily remind us of the active, life giving fire of the Holy Spirit.
