Description

'Forget the former things…See, I AM doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?' Isaiah 43: 18 & 19 - A Fine Art Print of my original Mixed Media Painting

Scripture - New International Version (NIV) Bible © 2011 Biblica, published by Hodder & Stoughton. Used by permission.

None of my mixed media paintings begin with any sense of a finished picture in my mind. Each one takes on a life of its own as I play around with papers and paint and do my best to listen to what I sense God might be saying to me. This process is so fascinating to me both in terms of the creative abandon it gives me and the spiritual encouragement I end up taking away.

In this piece, I see a vibrant and colourful Holy Spirit reminder to my heart that He is the God of the new thing! Just as with His children of Israel, He hears our cries too and is at work even when we may not perceive anything to be happening. Creation testifies to this. Like when a seed is planted and life begins at first in a dark, hidden place but then breaks new ground and becomes a beautiful flower with leaves and petals and fragrance! Or like the butterfly, for whom life begins as something that crawls along the ground and leads to a juncture of crisis and into a staggering process of transformation, after which, come wings and flight and nectar!! – an outcome unfathomable to a caterpillar!! Even when we don't see it God is working. Even when we don’t feel it God is working.

He is able to do immeasurably more than I can get my head around. His ways are not my ways. Is anything too hard for Him? Fresh encouragement to trust, leaning not on my own understanding, and see what the 'I AM' God of wonders will do next!

Its my prayer this brings encouragement—-Karen
