Scripture: Matthew 4:19 And He said unto them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
This beautiful art print, shows a small fishing boat out to sea and amongst the shoal of whirling fish is one man swimming. Will he grab hold of the line and start to follow Jesus or will he swim on by?
Jesus gave this instruction to Peter, John and James after fishing unsuccessfully all night, He then asked them to cast their nets on the other side and they witnessed a miracle of the largest catch they had ever seen. They accepted His invitation and by the grace of God, they laid down their nets and followed Him into His ministry.
Just as Peter, John and James did on that day, we to must accept Jesus invitation to lay down our lives and “follow” him. Jesus calls us, teaches us, empowers us, and then sends us to fish for people, becoming fishers of men.
