If you're looking for a custom piece of art for your home or to give to someone special, this is just the thing! Most of my commissions have been gifts for significant others, parents or neighbours in the past, but people equally commission me for themselves. Choose any building of meaning - it could be your first home, your wedding venue, your church, a honeymoon location, your garden in spring... really, the sky is the limit. A place that brings you joy that you would love to look at, framed in your home - this is a tangible memory of your favourite place!

I can hand letter a verse, quote or date underneath your painting, please let me know what personalisation you would like. I recommend no more than around 25 characters so that it doesn’t look overcrowded and is easily legible.

Each custom portrait is hand-painted on 300gsm watercolour paper in hgihly pigmented professional quality watercolour paint and finished with black ink to define edges. You will receive your unique A4 painting unframed, beautifully wrapped in tissue paper ready to give as a gift or as a special treat for yourself.

After purchasing, simply send a high-quality picture in colour of the location you would like painted to hello@andhopedesigns.com. Please note that your painting will be from the angle of the photo you send, as I can’t illustrate things I have not seen!

If there is small detail in your image, close up pictures would be great to send too! Whether the artwork is landscape or portrait will depend on what best fits the image you send unless you have specified a preference in your email.

Timing

Each illustration is hand drawn. Depending on demand, this may take up to 3 weeks, as your painting will be in a queue of paintings being commissioned. If your order is time sensitive, please get in touch before ordering to make sure I can accommodate. I’ll always try to work to deadlines you have but do check beforehand!

These custom illustrations are A4 size, which makes them easy to find a suitable frame for.

What do you draw?

I draw a variety of buildings or scenes - from flats, houses and bungalows, to farms, churches and other wedding venues. Please note your illustration will be in the style you see in the pictures. I sketch in pencil to begin, then paint with watercolour using detail such as brickwork and shadows and finish off with black ink.

I sketch from the perspective in the photograph you provide and include some background such as sea, flowers, pavements, etc. Please let me know if there are details you do not want included in your illustration (such as drain pipes, specific trees, grave stones in a church illustration, etc) Please be as specific as possible with which elements you want excluded. I can also add little things like a wreath on the door, flower pots and leaves on trees!

Unfortunately due to the custom nature of this artwork I will be unable to accept returns and refunds.
