Due to the nature of the dyeing process loose pigments may remain on the surface of the garments. We strongly recommend washing these garments only with like-coloured garments, as some of the pigment dyes may stain light or white coloured garments in the wash cycle. When impossible becomes possible...
So who are we? My name is Grace Brown and BREATHE is 'my baby! Definitely cringing at the fact that I couldn't find a better phrase to use than 'my baby' but its out there now so i'm sticking with it if for no other reason than it is embarrassingly all I can come up with right now (suggestions very much welcome). That guy beside me is Jason (the amazingly patient husband) who has dealt with all the six billion and three excuses why 'I cant do this' and the constant 'we cant afford it' dilemma that seems to follow me around more often than it should. He's the guy that has encouraged the dream and constantly pushed it forward when i'm right at the edge of giving up...again. He balances out my indecisiveness with the usual 'I hate it' or 'yea that works' every time the new designs stump me so i'd say we're a pretty good team. They say the best things come when you aren't expecting them and when impossible seems to be the only word that fits the vision...they say that things happen when you take a step away from what is comfortable and let the risk become reality that it happens... but as it turns out... IT'S ALL TRUE!
Lots of years + lots of failures + lots of "wise up Grace" + one major risk = The Dream
So why BREATHE?
In a world riddled with clutter and expectations; where life seems to sweep you away from the you, you once were or at least thought you were; sometimes all you need is that moment of stillness; finding that little bit of clarity. Often it's when you get trapped by the weight of it all and let the world and all it's pressures pass you by that you find rest in that embrace of simplicity where you find yourself again. And so we BREATHE! We've learn't to delight in the stillness that rebukes the 'me first' entitlement and ignites the eyes of empathy that somehow got lost along the way. And when we breathe... the world seems just that little bit bigger than the chaos we left behind.
Sometimes we all need that hint of simplicity to let go of what doesn't benefit us anymore and hold on tight to the things that do. Breathe is for the girl with the mind of a minimalist and a love of clean lines where what you see is what you get. Knowing that you gave that little bit extra for someone else to breathe the sigh of freedom and dream big dreams is worth it all today and always... Free to BE and free to dream.
We get asked this question ALL the time... "Would it not be easier and way cheaper to get all your designs cast and mass produce it all?" Yep..it definitely would BUT... we kinda like how the handmade process with all the little makers imperfections reminds us of who we are. We aren't perfect and were never going to be - sometimes we make mistakes - but what really counts is whether we choose to live in the mindset of 'i'm not enough' or whether we choose to pick ourselves up; embrace the journey with all its trials and remind ourselves that 'we are more than we think we are'.
(Plus we've got a secret long term dream for handmade which you're gonna want to get behind...)
We've caught the bug for change... (10% giveback)
Looking into the eyes of kids you can hardly help but see a world of potential and a playful innocence that makes you forget all the boring grownup stuff you wish you could avoid; but we've seen the other side...the side immersed in poverty that isn't so pretty; where the general sign on their door says 'you'll never make it...this is all there is for you...ever.
So even though you have to hunt through all the mess to find it; we're loving the fact that having nothing doesn't mean THEY are nothing; so does dreaming big really have to be so ridiculous? We love big dreams especially when they're not just big dreams; but more like impossible fantasies that might just come true if Tinkerbell fires around some fairy dust or flutters her wings around an idea. For us; what makes those dreams just a little bit more special is seeing the unrelenting belief of not just the possibility of those hopes but the inevitability of them coming true in the life of a child destined for the great nothingness in the hand they've been dealt.
Our 'big impossible' dream is to see every kid with a home, safe and completely free from trafficking. We want to see them educated whether they're financially 'OK' or whether they're alone and scavenging through scraps to survive is closer to their reality. We want to see kids with visions beyond their wildest imaginations and to begin to believe again that they were made for more. We might be insane to wish for something so big but we’re believing for the impossible and hoping you'll catch our vision to set kids free to dream those big dreams too.
