These words are a beautiful invitation lifted straight from Song of Solomon 2:10 - 12,
'My beloved spoke and said to me,
“Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me.
See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone.
Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves is heard in our land.'
None of my mixed media paintings begin with any sense of a finished picture in my mind. Each one takes on a life of its own as I play around with papers and paint and do my best to listen to what I sense God might be saying to me. This process is so fascinating to me both in terms of the creative abandon it gives me and the spiritual encouragement I end up taking away.
In this painting, I see a doorway, an archway, a secret garden entrance perhaps. And with it, the sense of a beckoning, an invitation to arise, get up from my current posture and 'come away' with Jesus…to set aside time and allow Him to give me fresh eyes to see what He wants to show me, to restore my soul and trust Him afresh with the seasons of life and all He is unfolding.
This is a high resolution scan & exhibition quality digital print of my original artwork using Epson UltraChrome HD inks on lovely quality fine art inkjet paper.
